As a long-time beauty and lifestyle journalist, I am always rather skeptical of skincare social media hype. These days, it seems like everyone on TikTok is pushing the same products, not for their miracle results but for the algorithm. Then I came across the Sungboon Editor Collagen Mask (aka, the TikTok collagen mask). After I was continuously served video after video of testimonials praising its performance, I decided to try it out myself — for work research, of course.

The SkinTokers were right: It’s one of the most impressive budget-friendly face mask finds I have ever tried, and I have tried a lot. Not only does it deliver on its collagen promise — I swear it’s like a temporary Magic Eraser for fine lines. It nourishes the complexion, soothes skin, and creates a lasting glow.

Ahead, I break down what the viral collagen mask does, how it works, and what to actually expect.

Here's a closer look at the 2-piece mask.

When applying sheet masks, you usually remove them from the plastic packaging, unfold them, and place them over the face, leaving them on for around 20 minutes (or however long the instructions suggest). But this TikTok collagen mask is a bit different.

First, it comes in two pieces, which isn’t that out of the ordinary, but it’s not really the norm for this type of mask. This design makes it much easier to achieve a good fit since many single sheets are notoriously awkward, with the eyes and mouth holes, nose flaps, and chin always in the wrong spot.

The biggest difference between the Sungboon Editor Collagen Mask and traditional sheet masks, though, is that you are supposed to wear it overnight. When I first learned about this mask, I was very skeptical of that — especially since I am a bit of a sloppy sleeper and can barely keep an eye mask around my head for a whole night’s sleep (don’t even get me started on mouth tape).

Upon application, the mask is bright white and gel-like in consistency. It is easy to place over the face and — surprisingly — stays put. As you sleep, the skin absorbs the collagen mask’s serum, and the gel acts as a barrier, helping to keep the nourishing formula on your skin and away from absorbent sheets and pillowcases. When you wake up, the mask is completely clear and ready to peel off.

How I tested the Sungboon Editor Collagen Mask

What’s so impressive about this sheet mask is that you get overnight results. No, really. I watched video after video of people trying the mask for the first time and waking up to noticeable benefits. Impressed, I decided to see if I would also experience that glow-up.

To test the product, I removed my makeup, washed my face with a gentle cleanser (the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser is my current favorite), and applied my regular skincare routine. From there, I cut open the packaging, removed the mask pieces, peeled them apart until they were flat, and applied the top and bottom halves to my face. Then, I crawled into bed and fell asleep — laying on my back so as not to disturb the sheet mask’s placement — and allowed it to work the graveyard shift on my skin.

In the morning, the mask was completely clear — just like the videos — and shockingly didn’t budge throughout the night (but some corners were starting to lift). I peeled it off my skin and revealed the most radiant version of my morning self. My skin was glowing, and I looked much more awake than usual.

Since my initial test, I have continued to use the mask around once a week for maintenance.

Guaranteed overnight results.

There is a lot to like about the Sungboon Editor Collagen Mask. For one, it comes in two pieces to ensure a better fit, and it actually stays in place while you sleep (so long as you snooze on your back). The mask also delivers instant — well, overnight, actually — results, so it’s a great mask to use the night before a big event, a photoshoot, or when you want a quick refresh.

In addition to restoring radiance, the TikTok collagen mask also temporarily tightens the look of skin and improves elasticity, so you notice fewer fine lines on the forehead and cheeks. It’s enhanced with Glyceryl Glucoside and patented AQUAXYL, which are two ingredients that support hyaluronic acid, so it’s super hydrating.

After using the face mask a couple of times, I also noticed a soothing effect, which would feel amazing after a day in the sun or when your skin feels irritated or inflamed.

What I didn’t like about the Sungboon Editor Collagen Mask

As far as downsides go, I don’t have many complaints about the collagen mask. While I am not sure how this would be achieved — and if it would even be comfortable — I wish the mask reached a little closer to my eyes and mouth to target fine lines and crow’s feet.

This is super picky, but one of the things I love about sheet masks is all of the extra formula inside the packet. That wasn’t the case with this mask, and I would have liked to apply some of the leftover serum to my skin after removing the mask to give it some extra oomph before applying my regular morning skincare routine.

A great option with guaranteed results.

I absolutely recommend the Sungboon Editor Collagen Mask and swear it’s worth all of the social media hype. It delivers on its promises, is convenient to use, and is an excellent magic trick to tuck away in your skincare arsenal for the night before big events.

The mask is available on TikTok Shop, but you can purchase a pack on Amazon for under $20.
