Best fitness tracker
Fitbit Charge 6

The Fitbit Charge 6 is our favorite for all-around fitness tracking. It tracks the usual suspects, including your steps, sleep, and stress, and displays your stats in a clean, easy-to-digest format. It can also connect to exercise equipment via Bluetooth to broadcast your heart rate.

The Charge 6 comes with some updated smart features from previous models, such as connectivity to Google Maps, YouTube Music, and Google Wallet. (Yes, Google owns Fitbit.) The Fitbit app is easy to navigate and lets you dive deeper into your stats, though, you may want to consider upgrading to Fitbit Premium to get the most out of your device.

Best eBike
Lectric XP 3.0

The Lectric XP 3.0 is an excellent e-bike that checks all our boxes—it’s comfortable, powerful, and long-lasting. Its motor can get you through both flat treks and hilly stretches, and you can adjust the maximum speed if needed. We found its battery life impressive, and most users will be able to make multiple trips between recharges. (Lectric claims riders can go up to 45 miles in pedal assist mode 1 and 20 miles in throttle-only mode.)

The bike’s rugged frame is quite durable and it’s easy to fold for storage purposes. Additionally, its cargo rack is rated to carry 150 pounds.

Peloton Bike+

The Peloton Bike+ is still our top pick, and for a good reason. Peloton’s exercise programming simply can’t be beat. The brand offers a seemingly endless number of classes, from the best instructors out there, that range in duration, difficulty, and focus. With your membership, you get access to both live and prerecorded classes, and of course, Peloton’s famed leaderboard.

The bike itself looks sleek and feels high quality. Its auto-follow function allows you to match your instructors difficulty, and its rotating screen makes it easy to participate in off-bike classes.

Best yoga mat
Lululemon The Mat 5mm

Lululemon makes some of our favorite exercise accessories, and The Mat 5mm is the best yoga mat we’ve tested. It strikes just the right balance between cushion and firmness that protects your joints but still helps you avoid wobbling out of single-leg poses.

The top surface of The Mat is a smooth polyurethane while the base is a textured natural rubber. Both sides provide excellent grip, so you can choose whichever feels better under your hands and feet, or even switch it up class to class.

Best adjustable dumbbells
Bowflex SelectTech 552

Anyone interested in strength training may want to consider a pair of adjustable dumbbells for their home gym to save on space. The Bowflex SelectTech 552s range from 5 to 52.5 pounds and adjust in 2.5-pound increments until they reach 25 pounds and then 5-pound increments thereafter. This makes them easy to use for multiple movements in one workout.

They’re extremely easy to adjust and re-rack, and their handles remain grippy and easy to grasp throughout your workout, even with sweaty palms.

Best rower
Hydrow Wave

A more compact version of the original Hydrow rower, the Wave is the best rowing machine for most. Hydrow offers stellar workout programming featuring fantastic instructors teaching you from scenic rivers, lakes, and oceans around the world. And there’s a vast library of classes to peruse so workouts never feel repetitive.

The rower itself is on the smaller side and works well for those tight on space. But it still offers the same quality as larger machines. Its seat moves smoothly, the handle feels secure and grippy, and the screen doesn’t shake or wobble.

Best treadmill
NordicTrack Commercial 1750 (NTL14119)

Treadmills are one of the most popular cardio machines available for your home gym, and the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is hard to beat. Its deck provides just the right amount of springiness to cushion your joints, but remains firm enough to support you during high-speed runs.

The speed ranges from 0.5 to 12 miles per hour (mph) and the incline ranges from -3% to 15%—it’s one of the few treadmills we’ve tested that goes downhill. NordicTrack’s exercise programming platform, iFit, offers excellent running, walking, and hiking classes with scenic views, and you can use the treadmill in manual mode if guided workouts aren’t your speed, so to speak.

Pros

  • Great range of speed and incline

  • Automatic speed and incline changes

  • iFit classes are lots of fun

Best athleisure
Alo

In addition to making the best yoga app we’ve tested, Alo makes some of our favorite athleisure apparel. Its celebrity-beloved leggings are some of our favorites. The fabric is breathable and supportive, but doesn’t feel overly compressive. Alo makes a wide array of high quality exercise leggings, skirts, tops, sports bras, sweats, and outerwear, all in trendy colors and styles. If you’re looking to revamp your workout wardrobe, we can’t recommend Alo enough.

Sustainability award
Janji

For basic, high-quality exercise apparel, we love Janji. The brand makes some of my favorite running shorts and tops that are lightweight, breathable, and comfortable to wear on long, warm-weather runs.

But we especially love Janji’s sustainability initiatives. This Boston-based brand uses Bluesign-certified fabrics that are manufactured in a more environmentally and ethically responsible way. On top of that, the brand’s packaging is made of recycled materials and is biodegradable. Janji donates a percentage of proceeds to nonprofits around the globe that work toward expanding access to clean water in underserved communities.
