“Lights, camera, bitch smile.” - The Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department
The lyrical mastermind, iconic cat mom, powerhouse performer, and most epic Easter egg dropper is officially in her newest era. Today, April 19, Taylor Swift dropped her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department as a 16-track album and a surprise digital version, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, with an additional 15 tracks. Produced by Swift’s go-to collaborators Jack Antonoff of Bleachers and Aaron Dessner of The National, Tortured Poets was first announced at the 2024 Grammy Awards during Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album for her 2022 album Midnights.
While performing on The Eras Tour, Swift told fans that this album felt like a “lifeline” and something she needed to create more than ever before, so it comes as no surprise that the two songs with Swift credited as the sole songwriter are arguably the most devastatingly relatable. “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys” and “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” feel like inside looks at the aftermath of dissolved love, laced with sadness and self-awareness. In "Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?,” Swift finds a way to poetically call out bad behavior with her signature sharp tongue through lyrics like, "Is it a wonder I broke? Let's hear one morе joke, then we could all just laugh until I cry."
Swift is credited as the sole songwriter for two bonus tracks as well, “The Black Dog” and “The Manuscript.” Target has exclusive editions available with each of the album's four bonus tracks, including "Albatross" and "The Bolter."

What artists are featured on the Tortured Poets album?
Swift has two featured artists on her newest album:
- Track 1: “Fortnight” (featuring Post Malone)
Swift’s voice hums along sweetly, juxtaposed by her heartbreaking sentiments. Posty joins in with seriously relatable lyrics like, “I love you, it’s ruining my life” and “All my mornings are Mondays stuck in an endless February.” Austin Post is credited as one of the songwriters for the song.
- Track 8: “Florida!!!” (featuring Florence + The Machine)
The signature ethereal tone of Florence Welch’s voice floats throughout this song with a haunting echo. The crescendo of fast-lipped lyrics leads to what the duo perfectly describe as “one hell of a drug.” Welch is credited as one of the songwriters for the song.
