It’s said that we spend a third of our lives asleep (or trying to get there). With that in mind, is there a better reason to ensure your sleep setup is the best it can be?

Reviewed’s Sleep Team dives deep into all the elements that make for a good night’s sleep: Mattresses, pillows, sheets, and comforters. We put them to the test in our lab (and maybe even nap on them) for evaluation. You can have confidence that our selections make up the best of the best products this year.

Best Mattress in a Box
Leesa Sapira Hybrid

If comfort and stability are what you value in a mattress, then the Leesa Sapira is the mattress you’re looking for. It offers unparalleled motion isolation, effective cooling performance, and superlative comfort for a mattress in a box. It’s also a hybrid mattress, with two layers of foam—a top comfort layer designed with holes for breathability, and a regular memory foam layer that provides contouring. The foam layers sit above a pocket-spring base. While the Dreamcloud beats it out for the best hybrid mattress we’ve tested, the Leesa is a worthy contender, and definitively the best mattress in a box we’ve encountered for all sleepers, no matter which sleeping position is preferred.

Best Cooling Mattress
Serta Arctic

The Serta Arctic has the best heat diffusion we’ve ever seen in a mattress. Sure, Serta makes bold claims about the Arctic’s cooling prowess, but our lab tests back it up, finding that the Arctic diffuses heat better than its competition. This mattress also has incredible motion isolation, meaning, If you're a light sleeper who is often woken by tossing and turning partners or who struggles to keep cool at night, this might be your ideal.

Best Mattress Protector
Purple Mattress Protector

Don’t let the fact that the Purple mattress protector feels light and thin fool you: A lack of extra fabric or quilting on top doesn’t make it ineffective at all. During testing, there were no leaks or seepage. We also love that the protective fabric covers all five sides of the mattress, not just the top. While other mattress protectors tend to use mesh on the sides, Purple keeps the entire surface dry.
