Who said Tabi boots couldn’t be timeless?

For as many times as I’ve instructed you here that fashion should be fun and playful, I often find it challenging to step out of my comfort zone. I tend to lean toward solid earth tones and classic Breton stripes rather than bold style statements. But on occasion, I’ll come across a garment that makes me want to rethink everything.
Right now, it’s this seriously incredible Cherub’s Hair Long-Sleeved Button-Down Shirt from Pleasing, the beauty and lifestyle brand launched by Harry Styles. Part of the brand’s collaboration with Disney’s Fantasia, the shirt features a stunning print that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about since I peeped it at a pop-up shop.
While I agonize over whether or not I should pick up the pricey shirt—and how I’d style it with the clothes I already own—I want to take a moment to introduce you to this week’s Fit Check subject, Taylor Quitara. Taylor is an artist and content creator whose distinctive sense of style is a fabulous mix of classic and eclectic, timeless and contemporary.

Taylor, I need to know everything about this look!
👚 - My yellow sweater is Polo Ralph Lauren and is a classic. They have these in so many yummy colors and I am slowly collecting them over time to one day have an entire rainbow.
👗 - Most of my closet is secondhand, and this skirt is vintage Burberry Blue Label that I got from a fabulous vintage store called IntoArchive. I have never seen another one like it and I wear it all the time—I’m a skirt girl!
👠 - My shoes are the infamous Margiela Tabis. I always get asked “are they comfortable being that the toes are separated,” and yes! They are very comfy, I promise!
👜 - This purse is my prized possession, a Chanel 2022 Gold Quilted Cube Clutch that is my child.
🧸 - My necklace, ring, and earrings are all from this super unique brand called YVMIN and they are my most complimented accessories—especially the bear ring which has a pink stone in the middle.
How did you discover and develop your personal style?
I developed my personal style through a lot of experimentation and some pretty bad outfits (which you can see if you scroll back far enough on my TikTok!). Allowing yourself to not overthink your fashion choices takes away the fear that we sometimes face when getting dressed. Without taking those “fashion risks” I wouldn’t have allowed myself to grow into my personal style.
What’s next on your to-buy list?
I am trolling the secondhand market right now for a Balenciaga City Bag. It's having a revival right now, but it has been on my list for years and I’m waiting to come across the right one!
What’s your go-to style hack?
People underestimate the power of a really good tailor! Even if it’s a plain white tee that you want to have taken in just a bit to fit perfectly, it really makes a difference and I end up loving the piece even more.
